Spread Your Wings UK
When Kyvano was formed, one of the the primary objectives we had was to give as much back to the community as we can. For our chosen charity, it was important that we partnered with an organisation that we believed in and where we knew that the work they did and the money they raised goes directly to those who need it. We were introduced to Spread Your Wings UK, a London based charity launched in 2023 as a result of a young family learning of their son's diagnosis with Angelman Syndrome. Absolutely blown away by the resilience, tenacity and love this family have in helping other Angelman families, we knew right away that Spread Your Wings UK would have our support and we're delighted to be a Business Partner for the charity.
What is Angelman Syndrome?
Angelman Syndrome (AS) is a rare neurogenetic condition affecting around 1 in 15,000 people, about 500,000 in the world.
It affects the nervous system causing severe physical and learning disabilities, little or no speech and issues with movement and balance.
A person with Angelman will have near normal life expectancy, but they will require support throughout their life. AS is caused by one of several different types of disruptions of a region of Chromosome 15, all involving a single gene, UBE3A. AS or Angelman Syndrome, was given its name by a British paediatrician, Harry Angelman. He first identified it in 1965. Initially, little was known of the disorder and few other cases were identified.
